Kikuichi’s legacy dates back more than 750 years, when family ancestor Shiro Kanenaga was appointed a swordsmith to Emperor Gotoba and crafted samurai swords bearing the imperial chrysanthemum crest – a symbol of exceptional quality. Following the end of the samurai era in 1868, Kikuichi transitioned its renowned bladesmithing expertise into premium kitchen cutlery. Today, the company continues that tradition with handcrafted knives and scissors that combine centuries of Japanese craftsmanship with modern performance. Built for lasting sharpness, precision, and durability, every Kikuichi blade reflects a heritage of excellence passed down through generations.
