How do you stir a cocktail? Remember to not be overly aggressive, breaking off pieces of ice and therefore adding too much dilution to the finished cocktail. Here is what you do instead: To begin stirring, place behind the ice along the perimeter of the glass and touch the bottom with your stirrer. For the best results, pull toward you with your top fingers with your bottom finger push the stirrer away from you. Your wrist will be making slight circular motions making you look like a professional bartender! Moving the ice through the drink fully integrates all of the ingredients, providing an ideal amount of dilution for your cocktail. Remember, while stirring, the quieter the better! After your cocktail is stirred, simply use a strainer to pour the contents without ice getting into your guest’s glass. Then place your finishing touch, whether it’s a cherry, olive, or garnish, and serve your deliciously stirred cocktail.
